GOYA

The Greek Orthodox Youth of America, or GOYA, is the ministry to teenagers of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Since GOYA is ministry, the orientation and implementation of the program should reflect the Orthodox Christian Faith, Tradition and Life.

GOYA is ministry to junior high and high school grade Orthodox Christian teenagers. Teenagers should be in seventh through twelfth grades to participate.

The mission and goal of GOYA ministry is to lead our young people into experiencing the Holy Orthodox Faith. By developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and becoming active sacramental members of the living Church, our young people will be equipped with tools necessary to assist them in their journey toward salvation. GOYA is an opportunity for Orthodox kids ages 13-18 to get together and do things from helping the community to taking trips just for the fun of it. Goyans can learn leadership skills, how to work as a team, and that our church is always there for us. Already, we have a lot to look forward to this year. Our Holy Trinity basketball team is growing with new Goyans and now we have a youth group night. If you’re not involved then you are really going to be missing out on a lot of memorable moments.

The people that you meet in Holy Trinity GOYA are friends that are much like yourself. You believe and feel the same about many topics because of religious beliefs and cultures. It’s always good to have other people to go to when school is challenging, sports are demanding, and other friends don’t understand. Many Goyans have grown up together because of Sunday school and other church activities but we always welcome newcomers.

GOYA is an organization that influences teens to choose and make the right decisions. Teenage years can be the most akward years of a persons life and the be the most difficult years. Kids at this age are trying to figure out who they are and who they want to become. GOYA steers kids in the right direction and makes it easy to say “no” to peer pressure. GOYA is an organization everyone should get involved in some time in their young life.
